Schools closed in 5 municipalities of Lamjung due to possibility of heavy rain

Lamjung. With the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall across the country for a few days, five local levels of Lamjung district have decided to close schools in view of the risk of disaster and safety of students, teachers and staff.
Besisahar, Sundar Bazaar and Madhya Nepal municipalities and Kwolasothar and Dordi rural municipalities have issued separate notices today to close the schools. Four local levels have announced to close schools for one day on Friday, while the Madhyanepal Municipality has announced to close the schools for two days.TAG_OPEN_div_30
According to the special weather bulletin of the Department, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in different parts of the country from September 22 to 24. Snowfall, gusty winds and lightning are also forecast in the high hilly and mountainous areas.TAG_OPEN_div_28
The Ministry of TAG_OPEN_div_26 Education and Sports has urged the local levels to announce the school holidays on September 22 and 9 for the safety of students, children, teachers and employees.
The Besisahar Municipality has decided to close all educational institutions in view of the incessant rains in the municipality and the possible risks. The municipality has said that the holiday will be adjusted for other holidays. The Sundarbazar Municipality has said that it will not operate all educational institutions in view of the risk of landslides, soil erosion, increased rivers and road blockage.

Dordi Rural Municipality has decided to give a public holiday in all community and institutional schools operating in the rural municipality considering the possible risks in the movement of students, teachers and employees. The holiday will be adjusted by reducing the winter vacation of the academic calendar by one day and the school will make arrangements for instead.

The rural municipality has urged people not to go out of their homes unnecessarily during the holidays and to stay safe from the possible risk of floods, landslides, snowfall, storms and lightning.
The local governments have urged the general public to adopt high alertness as there may be floods, landslides, soil erosion, water flow in streams and road blockages due to heavy rains.
