However, problems in normal life have increased due to the closure of the highway connecting the federal capital Kathmandu from different parts of the country. Spokesperson of Kathmandu Valley Traffic Office, Superintendent of Police Naresh Raj Subedi said that the public buses have been stopped in Kathmandu due to the closure of major highways linking Kathmandu.
According to him, the road has been obstructed due to landslides at various places along the Prithvi Highway and BP Highway. Spokesperson Subedi said that small vehicles are plying as the Pharping road from Kathmandu to Hetauda is operational.
General Manager of Lhotse Multipurpose Pvt Ltd, Pankaj Malla, informed that the public transport has been halted at Gongabu-based New Bus Park since Thursday evening.
“Most of the vehicles have been stranded at the New Bus Park as the highway linking Kathmandu from different parts of the country has been obstructed due to flood and landslide”, he added.
Meanwhile, incessant rain has been taking place in the federal capital Kathmandu Valley since Thursday morning. The rivers within the Kathmandu Valley have started increasing gradually due to the rain. With the rise in the river, the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office has miked the river corridors not to stop vehicles and not to park.
Meanwhile, the Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs has urged motorists to take precaution in view of the possibility of heavy rain and the possibility of landslide on the highway.
Federation general secretary Deknath Gautam urged all transport entrepreneurs and drivers to mobilize the highway by coordinating with the security bodies as the highway might be disrupted due to incessant rainfall.
Various bodies have appealed to the general public to be aware of heavy rain in different parts of the country from September 22 to 12.
