Landslides obstruct Narayangadh-Muglin and Prithvi Highway

Narayangadh. The Narayangadh-Muglin road section has been obstructed due to landslides at various places of Chitwan and Dhading due to incessant rains.

According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Dilli Narayan Pandey, chief of the Nepal Police Highway Security and Traffic Management Office, Ramnagar, it is not possible to resume the road immediately due to the continuous occurrence of small and big landslides at different places along the highway. He said that the process of landslides and falling stones has continued due to incessant rains.TAG_OPEN_div_39

TAG_OPEN_div_37 According to him, the vehicular movement has been completely disrupted at Dharapani of Ichhakamana Rural Municipality-4 in Chitwan after the road collapsed again. Earlier, the road had collapsed at the same place and one-way traffic had been resumed.

Similarly, a landslide occurred at Simaldhara of Ichhakamana Rural Municipality-5, obstructing the vehicular movement in both directions. According to police, the vehicular movement has been obstructed after stones and landslides fell from above at Tuinkhola and Namsikhola of Ichhakamana-5. According to police, minor stones and mud fell on Tuinkhola, Namse bridge and 15 kilo and 17 kilo of Narayangadh-Muglin road section.TAG_OPEN_div_35

Landslides occurred at Krishnabhir and Jyamireghat of Rorang rural municipality-7 in Dhading along the Prithvi Highway which disrupted the road on both sides. Landslides have also affected the road at Jarekhet of Gajuri rural municipality-6 and Kamerevir of Thakre rural municipality-2, SP Pandey said.TAG_OPEN_div_33

He said that work is underway to clear the landslides that have occurred on the road at Krishnabhir, Simaldhara, Dharapani, Namsikhola and Tuin Khola. However, due to incessant rains, the process of landslides in many places has not stopped, so the road is not likely to resume immediately, SP Pandey said.TAG_OPEN_div_31

Vehicular movement along the Narayangadh-Muglin road and the Prithvi Highway has been suspended since last night due to increased risk. The riverside gabin of the road on the Krishna cliff fell down a bit

The gabin on the river side of the road that has been opened at Krishna Bhir under the Prithvi Highway has come down a bit. According to Sajana Adhikari, chief of the Nagdhunga-Muglin Road Project (West Section), there is no problem in the new track opened on the upper part of the road. He said that the vehicular movement has been stopped in view of the possibility of further damage due to incessant rains.

} He said, “There has been a slight landslide from the upper part of the new track. There is not much problem in the place where we have covered the plastic. But a gabin has fallen down.” According to the Chief Officer, although the middle part of the gabin on the side of the road site has fallen somewhat, there has been no major damage to the road so far.
