KATHMANDU: Minister for Infrastructure Development Sunil Lamsal and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Wang Maoming held a meeting at Singha Durbar on Friday.

During the meeting, Minister Lamsal sought the Chinese government’s support in reconstruction of flood-damaged infrastructures in Rasuwa, re-opening of Rasuwagadhi-Kerung transit point, easy mobility of around 6 lakh Nepali citizens and effective operation of Korala and Tatopani border points.

Saying Rasuwagadhi, the main trade transit point of the country has been closed due to the floods in the Bhotekoshi River, Minister Lamsal said the government was working round the clock to provide relief to the locals by making arrangements of temporary road and transportation from the old place.

He also spoke of the need of Chinese support to bring the road section from Syaphrubesi to Rasuwagadhi into operation at the earliest.

On the occasion, Minister Lamsal said that the government was moving ahead with the task of opening the track at the required places by preparing a new detailed project report (DPR) for the development of long-term road infrastructure up to Kathmandu-Rasuwagadhi-Kerung transit point. He urged for the Chinese government’s support and coordination in this regard.

During the meeting, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Wang Maoming said that China was ready to provide all possible support to Nepal as a good friend and neighbor of Nepal. He stressed the need for the construction of long-term and effective infrastructure after conducting a special study for the reconstruction and operation of Rasuwagadhi border point, which is the main trade center of Nepal.

Ambassador Wang said the Chinese government was positive regarding the operation of Korala and Tatopani border points and expressed commitment for necessary coordination and cooperation if the Nepal Government sends a special proposal regarding reconstruction and operation of Rasuwagadhi transit point.
