Manang. The Marsyangdi River, which was blocked in the Tatopani area due to the accumulation of stones, pebbles, and sand in the local Ghattekhola after incessant rains, has started flowing normally lately.

According to the police, water has started flowing partially from the lake formed after the river was blocked. According to Lokendra Bahadur Ghale, chairman of Naso Rural Municipality, electricity, telephone and road network has been disrupted in different places of the district due to incessant rain for four days.

“During the disaster, we have been cut off from telephone, electricity and road network,” he said, adding that the local government is working maximum by mobilizing the limited resources available. At this time, the state and federal governments should be able to make us feel like guardians. ”

According to him, the locals who have taken shelter at the Nepal Army barracks and community buildings and other public buildings have started enquiring about the damage caused by the floods in their houses and villages this morning.

Chief District Officer Mukti Prasad Khanal said that the water flow of the Marsyangdi River is gradually opening up. He said that discussions are being held to resume the flow of water by taking excavators as there is a road connectivity in the area.

The flood has caused damage to the lake market on the border of Lamjung and Manang. Chief District Officer Khanal said, “We urge the people living on the banks of the river of Marsyangdi to remain vigilant.” ”

Due to the incessant rains, the floods of Thado Khola and Khatte Khola have eroded the area and damaged houses, bridges and roads. The floods of Ghattekhola, Thado Khola and Marsyangdi on May 14, 2021 and June 14 had also caused a huge physical loss in Manang.
