Myagdi. Myagdi, which was affected by floods and landslides, has been recommended to be declared a disaster-hit district.
A meeting of the District Disaster Management Committee held on Tuesday decided to recommend declaring the district as a disaster-hit district. Chief District Officer Ganesh Gaire said that a recommendation has been made to the Ministry of Home Affairs to declare the district as a disaster-hit district and give priority to the reconstruction and rehabilitation work. Assistant Chief District Officer Kul Prasad Acharya said that the collection of damage details has started in all the six municipalities along with the rescue and relief. According to him, 23 houses in Beni municipality, three in Raghuganga, 18 in Mangala, one in Malika, two in Annapurna and one in Dhaulagiri have been completely damaged due to floods and landslides received so far. 23 houses in Beni, 47 in Raghuganga, four in Mangala, three in Malika and 23 houses in Dhaulagiri are at risk. It has been reported that 21 houses in Beni, 26 in Raghuganga, eight in Mangala, one shed in Annapurna and 20 livestock have been damaged in the district.
A total of 109 people from Paudwar, Giwang, Nepane, Kindu, Dhoskekhor and Ghirwang of Annapurna Rural Municipality-5 were rescued by helicopter and temporary camps have been set up at Sikh and Ghar.TAG_OPEN_div_16
A total of 70 Nepal Army, 251 Nepal Police and 60 Armed Police Force personnel have been mobilized for the rescue operation. All the roads connecting Beni, the district headquarters of Myagdi to other districts and rural areas, have been obstructed due to floods and landslides. Electricity and communication services have been disrupted in areas except the district headquarters. The district headquarters Beni is facing a shortage of drinking water.TAG_OPEN_div_14
