Trump threatens to take stern action against Iran for Dubai flight disaster

US President Donald Trump has warned Iran of “very severe” consequences if it is confirmed that Iran was involved in the attack on the pilot of a Flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv.

There was a struggle for control of the plane after the co-pilot stabbed the captain. The passengers of the plane, which made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia, were later sent to Israel on another flight. Preliminary investigations by Saudi Arabia indicate that the co-pilot attacked the captain.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the co-pilot was influenced by Islamist extremist views and accused him of trying to cause the plane crash. The UAE’s chief prosecutor said it was investigating whether there was a terrorist act or a motive for the incident.
