KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Rajendra Lingden has said that democracy is the only alternative to democracy and the NC should lead the way to strengthen the democratic system.

Addressing the inaugural session of the 15th general convention of the Nepali Congress here today, leader Lingden said that the present political problems were linked to the constitution and republican system and the time has come to reconsider them.

“The current problem is with the constitution and the republican system you have brought. The time has come to think about this too,” he said.

Lingden said that there should be a serious review of the problems seen in the democratic system rather than looking for an alternative to democracy. He said that the political parties should review the present situation and decide the way forward in the interest of the country and the people.

He said that there was a need for discussion and dialogue among the political parties on the issues of making democracy more effective and addressing the expectations of the people. He said that the Congress should play a leading role in preserving and strengthening democracy.
