Influential youth leader Prakash Tiwari has filed his candidacy for the post of central member of the Nepali Congress.

KATHMANDU: Youth leader and chairman of Arjun Chaupari Rural Municipality of Syangja district, Prakash Tiwari, has filed his candidacy for the post of central member in the 15th general convention of the Nepali Congress.

He said he would file his candidacy for the post of central member in the party’s 15th general convention to be held in Kathmandu from today.

Tiwari, who is working as the chairman of Arjun Chaupari Rural Municipality, is a well-known Congress leader among the younger generation. He will also be the state vice-president of Syangja District Constituency No. 1.

Tiwari was also included in the list of ’40 Influential Youths Under 40′ published by Onlinekhabar. In this list, he was presented as the best ‘Municipal Chief’.

Before being elected to the local level, Tiwari was involved in entrepreneurship, business and stock market. He has also shared the knowledge of investment in the stock market at the local level. He has involved 1500 people in the stock market.

According to Tiwari, 1500 people of Arjun Chaupari Rural Municipality have been taught to invest in the stock market by opening a demat account. He said that this campaign has been started with the aim of spreading financial and investment awareness at the local level.

Tiwari, who has an MBA from India, was elected as the chairman of Arjun Chaupari Rural Municipality in the local level elections of 2079 BS. He was one of the youngest rural municipality chairpersons to be elected from the Congress at that time.

After assuming the leadership of the municipality, Tiwari has launched various programs in the field of infrastructure, education, health, tourism and entrepreneurship. In recent times, along with the expansion of road infrastructure in Arjun Chaupari, tourism and local economic activities have been given priority.

Tiwari, who has been linking his experience of business, investment and running the local government to his political career, has now put forward himself as the central member with the agenda of increasing the representation of the younger generation in the central structure of the party.

The amended statute of the Congress has ensured youth representation at various levels of the party. Youths below 35 years of age have also been given representation in the central working committee. This time, 21 youth central members, including one woman, will be elected from seven provinces, including two women and 7 from the open category.

Tiwari said that he is contesting the candidacy with the aim of taking the experience gained in the leadership of the local level to the central level of the party. Making local government operation, entrepreneurship, investment and relations with the youth the basis of his political journey, he has been emphasizing on increasing the role of the new generation in the central leadership of the Congress. He is known as a young leader with potential within the party.
