According to Dilip Gurung, secretary of the Chomrong Tourism Management Committee, around TAG_OPEN_div_44 300 tourists are reaching Annapurna Base Camp every day. There are six hotels and lodges that can accommodate tourists in ABC. The hotels here have the capacity to accommodate up to 350 tourists. “There are no domestic tourists but the arrival of foreign and SAARC tourists has increased. Now that all the roads coming here have also been opened, trekking has become easier,” Gurung said.
Earlier, the tourism sector was badly affected as the roads and trekking routes were affected in various parts of the Annapurna region due to rains and floods. The road was blocked for a long time due to the erosion of the Modi river in Birethanti and Syauli Bazaar of Annapurna. The rural municipality opened the road in the first week of September after taking about one and a half months.
Secretary Gurung said that tourists preparing to go to Manang and Manaslu areas have started choosing ABC as an alternative destination after some roads and trekking routes leading to Manang and Manaslu area were blocked due to landslides. “Among Manang, Manaslu and Annapurna areas, the route towards Annapurna Base Camp is comparatively easy. Therefore, tourists from South Asian countries have increased their preference for tourists in ABC. We are expecting that Nepali tourism will come after the Dashain festival,” said Gurung, secretary of Chomrang Tourism Management Committee.TAG_OPEN_div_40

Annapurna-11 ward chairman Him Bahadur Gurung said that all the roads from Pokhara-Ghandruk-ABC are now open. He said that the trekking route has been opened even after making temporary arrangements in some places.
“Birethanti and Syauli bazaars have opened. There is no problem above Ghandruk now. Now all the permanent and temporary roads leading to the ABC trek have been opened. You can come from all places, including New Bridge, Ghandruk and Chomrung,” said Gurung.
