Kathmandu. In order to make the power supply of Kathmandu Valley more reliable, quality and sustainable, the capacity of the Matatirtha-Syuchatar 132 KV transmission line is being increased. Under this, the power supply in the Kathmandu Valley may be affected on Saturday, October 9 and Sunday due to the installation of new high-capacity wires by removing the old wires (conductors).
The 132 KV Transmission Line Upgradation Project under the Project Management Directorate of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) is replacing the old conductor on the Matatirtha-Syuchatar 132 kV double circuit transmission line with a new high-capacity conductor. For this work, the transmission line will have to be shut down from 9 am to 5 pm on Saturday, October 10 and Sunday.
A high-capacity HTLS conductor is going to be installed in place of the old low-capacity conductor. About four hundred meters of the conductor of one circuit of the double circuit line is yet to be replaced. After the completion of this work, it is expected that the power carrying capacity of the transmission line will be increased and it will help in managing the increasing power demand and making the power system more reliable.
During the closure of the transmission line, the power supply may be affected in the areas where electricity is supplied from Matatirtha, Syuchatar and other related substations. Necessary technical preparations have been made to complete the work within the stipulated time and the schedule may be changed if the weather is unfavorable. The NEA has apologized for the inconvenience caused to the customers due to the technical work.
