KATHMANDU: The Nepal Air Service Authority Bill, 2083 and the Nepal Civil Aviation Authority Bill, 2083 have been registered in the House of Representatives.
According to the proposed provision, the functions of the service provider and the regulator will be conducted by separate entities. It aims to make regulation and safety supervision more effective by ending the existing conflict of interest.
The Air Services Authority of Nepal (AAA) is responsible for Airport Infrastructure and Operation, Air Navigation and Technical Services, Flight Safety and Risk
The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) will be responsible for certification and licensing, standards determination, regulation, safety supervision and international obligation.
This institutional reform is expected to make Nepal’s civil aviation sector more safe, systematic, and effective in line with international standards.
