Kathmandu. On the third day of Navratri, Goddess Chandraghanta, the third of the nine Durgas, is worshiped in the Dashain Ghar or Puja room.
It is mentioned in various mythological and religious scriptures that Chandraghanta, the third goddess among the nine goddesses, carries a bell with the base of the moon in her hand, which is why she is named Chandraghanta. According to Toyaraj Nepal, retired professor of Nepal Sanskrit University, Valmiki Vidyapeeth, special worship is performed on the occasion of Navratri as worshiping the goddess gives power.
In the Markandeya Purana, it is mentioned that the name of the one in whose bell the moon is located is Chandraghanta. This name is derived from the fact that the goddess Chandraghanta wears a crescent moon as well as a bell on her head.
