Action taken against 70 vehicles for illegally exploiting river

Baglung. In Baglung, 70 vehicles have been taken to task for exploiting illegal river products in three years. In the last three fiscal years, vehicles have been taken to action for exploiting illegal rivers in different rivers of the district.

Tippers, tractors, excavators, dozers and JCBs were taken to the spot for illegally extracting stones, pebbles and sand from Kaligandaki River under Baglung Municipality, Daramkhola of Galkot Municipality, Badigad Khola of Badigad Rural Municipality and Dhorpatan Municipality, according to Inspector Yam Narayan Aryal, Information Officer at the District Police Office, Baglung.TAG_OPEN_div_10

The vehicles seized by the police are released by the local level for a certain amount of revenue. The seized vehicles are fined from minimum to maximum by estimating the damage caused by the exploitation.

In the fiscal year TAG_OPEN_div_6 2080/81, the highest number of 21 vehicles were taken action under Baglung Municipality. Dhorpatan Municipality had 14 vehicles and Badigad Rural Municipality had four vehicles. The three local units have received Rs 157,280 revenue from these vehicles.
