Sunsari. Devotees throng the Budha Subba Temple at Bijayapur of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City-14.

The Budha Subba Temple has been thronged with devotees since early morning today as a special worship is performed to goddess Durga Bhawani by offering a rooster as a rooster is sacrificed on the occasion of Mahanawami.

According to the priest of the temple, Dambar Ale Magar, there is a tradition of worshiping here with the wish of fulfilling the wishes and offering a chicken chicken after the fulfillment of the vow. The devotees are worshiping with the belief that happiness, peace, prosperity and wishes will be fulfilled.

Visitors from various districts of eastern Nepal, Sikkim, Darjeeling and Bhutan of India also come here.

Nirmala Basnet of Tarahara said that on the occasion of Dashain, Budha Subba has come to worship at the temple wishing for the happiness, peace and prosperity of the family. He said that he comes every year to offer a rooster as per the vow with the belief that his wishes will be fulfilled.

MD Jammel, who has been doing business at Budha Subba Temple for about 30 years, said that with the beginning of Bada Dashain, the number of devotees coming for worship has increased. He is happy that the number of devotees has increased since the morning of Mahanawami. He has also been selling various types of toys for children along with worship materials in the temple premises.

Until a decade ago, it was customary to write the name on the bamboo of the Budha Subba temple premises with the belief that love would be immortal. After the bamboo started dying over time, the temple management committee has put wire mesh around the bamboo. Since then, the practice of writing names on bamboo has decreased and the practice of tying garlands on bamboo has increased.

In the Budha Subba temple, devotees worship by offering chickens, eggs, and fruits. There is also a tradition of offering roosters to fulfill the vow and offering a female chicken to Gaurini Mata nearby. If the female is not available, the egg is offered.

There are famous temples like Shaktipeeth Dantakali, Budha Subba, Pindeshwar and Panchakanya in Bijaypur. On the occasion of Bada Dashain, there is a lot of movement of devotees at Dantakali.
