Heavy rain forecast in three provinces due to impact of cyclone ‘Arnab’, weather likely to improve from tomorrow

{{TAG_OPEN_div_28} Kathmandu. The Meteorological Forecasting Division has said that the remnants of the cyclone ‘Arnab’ developed in the Bay of Bengal and the partial influence of the westerly wind are currently present throughout the country.

At present, moderate rainfall is taking place in Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces while light rain is taking place in some places of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces. It will be cloudy in all the provinces towards the afternoon.TAG_OPEN_div_26

Moderate TAG_OPEN_div_24 rain with thunder and lightning is likely to occur at many places of Koshi, Madhes and Bagmati provinces, and at some places of Gandaki Province, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Similarly, there are chances of light rain in some places of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces and heavy rain and snowfall at one or two places of Koshi, Madhes and Bagmati provinces.TAG_OPEN_div_22

TAG_OPEN_div_20 Similarly, there will be cloudy throughout the country tonight. There is a possibility of moderate rain and snowfall in some places of the mountainous region. Light rain is likely to occur at one or two places of the hilly region of Koshi and Gandaki provinces.

The Division has requested the tourists not to go to the high mountainous areas as there is a risk of heavy snowfall, snowstorm and avalanche in the high hilly and mountainous areas. Also, the tourists who have reached such areas have been requested to stay in safe places until the weather becomes favourable.

The Division has urged the general public and bodies concerned to adopt precaution and make preparations as cold may increase with the rain, landslides at risky places and roadsides and affecting daily life including road and air transport.TAG_OPEN_div_16

Also, the Meteorological Department said that its impact will gradually weaken from tomorrow afternoon.
