Supreme Court unanimously endorses names of four justices

{{TAG_OPEN_div_12}Kathmandu. The Parliamentary Hearing Committee of the Federal Parliament has unanimously endorsed the names of four people recommended for appointment as judges of the Supreme Court.

The three-judge bench of Pokhara High Court, Ratna Bahadur Bagchand as judge of Patan High Court, Janak Pandey as judge of Hetauda High Court, and Janakpur High Court judge Gokarna Dangi as judge of Birgunj High Court were recommended for the post.TAG_OPEN_div_10

The Judicial Council had recommended their names for appointment to the post of judges of the Supreme Court on October 2 TAG_OPEN_div_8. The committee had started the parliamentary hearing process of the four proposed judges on November 3.

According to Bodh Narayan Shrestha, chairman of the committee, 13 complaints were filed against the proposed judges. There is a constitutional provision that the President will appoint judges after the names are approved by the Parliamentary Hearing Committee on the recommendation of the Judicial Council.TAG_OPEN_div_6
