Kathmandu. It has been found that a plan has been hatched to rob the branch of SBI Bank in Dhyanlekh Rural Municipality-2 of Sindhuli district for about three months. The house owner of the bank, Chhabilal Syangtan who owns the bank’s branch office, is found to be involved in the robbery.
According to the police, the plan to rob the bank was made three months ago, but after several attempts, it was successful at 7:30 pm on the 29th. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Surya Prakash Subedi of District Police Office, Sindhuli, the robbers recovered Rs 1 crore 8 million 10 thousand 500 from the bank hidden in sacks at different places in the jungle on the night of January 12.
So far, Rs 2,68,55,175 has been recovered. Rs 3.07 crore was looted from the bank. Police arrested four suspects from Sukachuri of Ghyanglekh Rural Municipality-1 in Sindhuli on January 14 and recovered Rs 509,675 from them.
A fake plastic pistol was used to rob the bank. Police have recovered a fake pistol. Police said they arrested some people on the 30th and they confessed to being involved in the incident. Police also confiscated Rs 8.33 million from the hidden place and the clothes used by him in the case including mask, gloves, fake plastic pistol and other clothes used by him in the incident.
After the preliminary statement and technical analysis of the arrested persons, Chaturman Bajyu and the house owner of the bank were also involved in the incident.
Police have arrested Chaturman Bajyu on January 15 while searching for him who was hiding in the jungle area of Ghyanglekh Rural Municipality-1 in Sindhuli district.
According to the arrested house owners Chhabilal Syangtan and Chaturman Bajyu, it has been revealed that they had planned to rob the bank since 2082 BS. On January 7, four of the arrested people had rented two motorcycles from Kathmandu to rob the bank and the plan to rob the bank failed as the situation was not favourable.
According to the police, the bank had gathered at Koteshwor of Kathmandu on January 12 with a plan to rob the bank.
It has come to light that house owner Chhabilal Syangtang had provided the necessary arms management and information and instructions to rob the bank. On the evening of January 29, the arrested entered the bank, took the security guard and the bank employees under control, showed a plastic pistol to the branch chief, asked him to open the vault containing the money in the bank, sack and bag the money in the bank and fled. The police and locals took the looted money from the jungle and arrested them.
According to Nepal SBI Branch Office, Sindhuli, Rs 3.07 crore was looted from the bank on that day.
Police had robbed the bank office at Hayutar of Ghyanglekh Rural Municipality-2 in Sindhuli at around 7:30 pm on January 12.
A team deployed from Area Police Office, Bastipur, Sindhuli took control of the bank’s employees and security guards in 2 rooms at the incident site.
A team of 50 police personnel from the District Police Office, Sindhuli under the command of the Superintendent of Police had searched for the missing person.
A team of police and locals found BAD 0398 Tata Sumo and driver Bhagwat Singh Thapa at Lipkhola some 2 km east of the incident site. Thapa said that 6 people had reserved the Tata Sumo from Banepa of Kavre district on the same day for the wedding.
The police immediately took the sumo and the driver into custody and interrogated them. The Sindhuli District Court has remanded the accused in custody for five days on the charge of theft and robbery.
Police confiscated Rs 26.85 million, two khukuri, a plastic pistol, five mobile phones, a large water tape, three black masks and a red mask.
