Far-West. Dhangadhi-based Agriculture Inputs Company Limited has sold 1,287.7 metric tonnes of urea and 295.7 metric tonnes of DAP from August 17 to 19. During this period, 33.25 metric tonnes of potash was sold.

Nawal Singh Bogati, manager of the provincial office, said that the company sold such quantity of fertilizer in course of supplying fertilizer required for paddy cultivation to the farmers.

He said that the company has been supplying fertilizers to the farmers through cooperatives and sales centers as the demand for fertilizer increases during the peak season of paddy cultivation.

Although the available fertilizers are being sold, the supply still needs to be increased compared to the demand. The required quota for Dhangadhi is 1,947.705 metric tons and DAP is 1,915.815 metric tons, Bogati said.

After the sale, the company has 110.250 metric tonnes of urea, 31 metric tonnes of DAP and 93.650 metric tonnes of potash in stock. As of Tuesday, the stock of urea has reached 1,397.955 metric tonnes and DAP 326.7 metric tonnes. Compared to the required quota, the fertilizer in sale and stock is only about 72 percent for urea and about 17 percent for DAP. Among these, the supply gap of DAP is comparatively larger.

According to the company’s data, there is a shortfall of 549.755 metric tonnes of urea and 1,589.115 metric tonnes of DAP against the required quota. Farmers have been facing problems for the supply of DAP at a time when the demand for fertilizer for paddy cultivation has increased.
