Jhapa. Goods worth Rs 25.03 billion have been imported from Kakarvitta in the current fiscal year 2082/83 BS.
Information Officer and Customs Officer at the Mechi Customs Office, Ishwar Kumar Humagain, said that the import of goods has increased by 8.39 per cent compared to the same period of the last fiscal year. According to him, goods worth Rs 23.09 billion were imported in the first six months of the last fiscal year.
Exports through this border point have decreased in the first six months of the current fiscal year. During the period, goods worth Rs 13.67 billion were exported to various countries. Nepal had exported goods worth Rs 13.84 billion in the same period last year. Humagain, information officer at the office, said that the export through this border point has decreased by 1.20 percent.
The main commodities exported from the eastern border include cardamom, tea, plywood, venioer sheet, chhurpi, amriso, ginger, dry ginger, lentils, cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli and herbs. According to the statistics of the office, Rs 8.40 billion revenue has been collected from import and export till mid-January of the current fiscal year.
