PM Karki vows to resolve health insurance problems even if he takes loan

Kathmandu. On the occasion, Prime Minister Sushila Karki pledged that the government would mobilize resources to address problems related to health insurance. Speaking at a discussion on health insurance at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers today, Minister Bhandari said the government was committed to maintaining health services in times of financial crisis, implementing a one-door system, strong regulation and prompt resource management.

He has a clear message that the health insurance service should be continued whether it is by taking loan or by mobilizing other resources. “If the service is not provided now, people will raise questions on the streets. Resources must be mobilized,” she said, adding, “One-door system must be implemented.” There is a need to regulate. Money is going, but treatment is not available. What is happening here is not right. ”

The Prime Minister stressed the need of continuity of health insurance facility for senior citizens, people with disabilities, Dalits, extremely poor and marginalized communities. “People have paid Rs 3,500. The government has said that it will provide treatment up to Rs 1 lakh. But there was a serious weakness in not being able to provide the money, not being able to provide the service,” she said, adding, “Currently, 16 lakh 17 thousand 85 people are availing the service.” This has been made possible by the tax paid by the people of the three crores. The service should reach the target group. ”

Vice-Chairman of the National Planning Commission, Dr Prakash Kumar Shrestha, who was also present in the discussion, suggested that the premium rate should be adjusted as per the age instead of keeping flats. He said that resource management would be possible if there is no duplication with contribution-based social security fund and integrates distribution-oriented welfare programmes. Chairperson of the National Natural Resources and Fiscal Commission, Juddha Bahadur Gurung, said that the health insurance sector would not gain momentum if policy reforms and duplication were not addressed.
