More than 1500 items removed for violating election code

Bow. The posters, banners, stickers and flags put up at public places in violation of the election code of conduct have been removed from the area.

The Election Office has been repeatedly requested to remove the election publicity materials from the political parties and candidates after receiving complaints from time to time.

The District Police Office (DPO) said that more than 1,500 illegal publicity materials were removed from the premises of Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City on Saturday.

According to the police, the publicity materials pasted in public places, electric poles, walls and government structures were found to be against the election code of conduct.

Spokesperson at the District Police Office, Deputy Superintendent of Police Ganesh Bahadur Bam said the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) was the political party which violated the election code of conduct the most.

He said that regular monitoring is underway as the election office has warned of legal action against the parties and candidates not abiding by the election code of conduct.

The local administration, police and other stakeholders have also urged all sides to be responsible to ensure a free, fair and fair election. The administration has made it clear that it will continue the monitoring in the coming days as well and will take strict action if the violation is repeated.
