Gulmi. Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Executive Director Hitendra Dev Shakya has made an onsite inspection of Burtibang-Paudiamarai-Tamghas-Sandhikharka-Gorusinghe 132 kV transmission line and substation.

He carried out an on-site inspection after the construction of the transmission line came into operation.

He carried out on-site monitoring of Tamghas (46 MVA) at Unaechaur of Resunga municipality-7, Paudiamarai (46 MVA) of Musikot municipality and Burtibang (46 MVA) at Khaltubot of Dhorpatan municipality-2 in Baglung district.

According to NEA, the transmission line of 132 KV from Tamghas substation of Unaechaur to Burtibang substation has been brought into charge.

On the occasion, Shakya along with Rajan Dhakal, chief of the Transmission Directorate of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), Kedar Raj Silwal, director of the Department of High Voltage Grid Development, and Achyut Babu Ghimire, director of the Medium Voltage Grid Development Department, visited the site for the on-site inspection of the substations.

After the inspection, Shakya said that the NEA has taken the project as an important priority to make the electricity supply system stronger, reliable, quality and credible.

Chief District Officer of Gulmi, Badrinath Gaire, also reached the Tamghas substation when Shakya reached Gulmi.

“The transmission has started from Amrai substation and Burtibang sub-station. “Earlier, there used to be problems in power supply 10-15 times a day when the transmission line was available at 33 kV,” he said after inspecting the Tamghas substation. This is a positive sign for reliable power supply. ’

He also expressed his hope that NEA would be able to provide reliable and quality electricity to the industries and entrepreneurs with the charging of these substations. “With this, NEA will be able to supply electricity required for agro industries, small industries and big industries in these areas and we are hopeful that the investment will help boost economy and create employment opportunities here,” he said. ’

He said the NRA was also hopeful that it would help to stop the trend of people going abroad from village or hilly to the Terai.

During the inspection, he said that after reaching Burtibang, we have reached here through five sub-stations, adding that it would be easy to provide reliable electricity to the surrounding villages of these areas and connect the electricity of private promoters to the grid. “It will be important for private promoters and people of the villages to go through the 132 KV double circuit transmission line when electricity is currently available from 33÷11 kV,” he said. 132 KV has opened the door for that as well. ’

Stating that Burtibang area is known as a micro hydropower entrepreneur through its own efforts, he assured that the situation of displacement is on the verge of being displaced.

He also assured that NEA would make them financially strong by selling their electricity.

According to him, the technical test carried out for two days has been successfully completed and the regular power supply would be restored.

Project Chief Manoj Prasad Chaudhary said that the project has five substations from Motipur of Kapilvastu to Burtibang of Baglung district.

Under this project, substation has been constructed from Motipur substation of Kapilvastu to Unayechaur of Gulmi to Burtibang of Baglung via 132 kV line. Now, with the operation of Burtibang section, all structures have come into full operation. ’

NEA has also expressed hope that the problem of voltage drop, overload and frequent power outages while supplying electricity from long distances in hilly districts will be reduced. The NEA is expected to provide easy electricity to the people of Kapilvastu, Gulmi, Arghakhanchi and Baglung districts with the investment of around Rs 4.76 billion.
