Kathmandu. The General Election Observation Committee (GEOC) has published a report that voters are enthusiastic about voting in the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 4.
The organization has come to the conclusion that the pre-election environment was peaceful and managerial on the basis of the information received from the call centre and the on-site observation of the preparations for the election.
The survey carried out a study on election preparations, participation of political parties, cooperation and coordination, challenges during the election, EC preparations and the state of election security.
General Secretary of GEOC Krishna Man Pradhan said that the report was prepared after consultations with political parties, voters, candidates, civil society, press, Chief District Officer and District Election Officer.
“Overall, the basis has been prepared for the election to be held in a peaceful, free, free and fear-free environment,” the report reads. ”
Professor Chiranjibi Khanal, who has been deputed for the national observation of the election from the GEOC, said that the election preparation was moving ahead in a speedy manner, the employees had already reached the polling stations, the construction of the polling centre was underway and the security bodies were also deployed in their places with responsibility and sensitivity.
“In the past, the political parties and candidates used to influence the voters through big mass gatherings and rallies, but this time it has been found that the political parties are committed to the election and the voters are enthusiastic,” he said. ”
Press freedom of expression campaigner and GEOC National Observer Hari Binod Adhikari said there was a peaceful environment for the election and a team with employees has reached the polling station with all the necessary resources for the election.
“Voters, candidates, representatives of political parties and Chief District Officers are also confident that the election will be held peacefully,” he said. The study and analysis so far suggests that a free, fair and fear-free election environment has been created. ”
Another national observers Ganeshman Pradhan and Dr Minen Shrestha said that most of the voting centres were voter-friendly as most of the voting centres were located in schools and ward office buildings. GEOC has deployed national observers in all seven provinces to take stock of the pre-election situation.
The report states, “The implementation of integrated security plan in the district, election preparations are satisfactory from the administrative and security point of view and although the competition among the political parties is intense, the overall environment is peaceful.” ”
The report states that the deployment of polling materials and employees at the election centres across the country was carried out as per the plan. Prior to this, the door-to-door campaigning of the candidates and the election campaigning were being conducted peacefully.
The GEOC has deployed 400 election observers at 250 local levels of 36 districts across the country.
