Ranjha. Security has been beefed up along the border areas in Banke district targeting the election to the House of Representatives scheduled for March 4.
High alertness has been maintained along the Nepal-India border in Banke district to ensure peaceful and peaceful election, said Chief District Officer Dil Kumar Tamang.
According to him, the movement has been banned through Jamunaha and other auxiliary transit points, the main border point of Nepal-India. Security personnel of both Nepal and India have been tightening security patrolling along the border.
The Jamunahana border between Nepal and India has been completely closed from 12 midnight of February 2 to 12 midnight on March 4 in view of the election to the House of Representatives. Similarly, tightened security checks have been tightened in the border areas at Narainapur of Constituency No. 1, Duduwa of Constituency No. 2, Janaki and Khajura rural municipalities of Constituency No. 3, said Chief District Officer Tamang.
There are 139 polling stations and 403 polling centres in Banke district. District Election Officer Tek Bahadur Shahi said there are 350,371 voters in the district. Of them, 172,223 are female, 178,339 are male and nine are third gender voters.
