Kathmandu. Dol Prasad (DP) Aryal, vice-president of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) who was elected from Kathmandu constituency-9 and coordinator of the Federal Election Editing Committee, has said that his competition will be with misgovernance and corruption.
Addressing the voters after receiving the election certificate from the Election Office, Aryal expressed the belief that the country would now move towards the path of prosperity. He thanked all the voters of the constituency for the victory. He also said that all the candidates in the fray are respected as allies and that his main competition will be with corruption.
Stating that this election was special so far, Aryal said that the people voted for good governance. According to him, the people have clearly expressed the need of good governance in the country through their votes. “We are not here just to do politics. We have not come only to become the Prime Minister, Minister or Leader. Our aim is to make the country prosperous, well-governed and corruption-free,” he said.
He also expressed his commitment to carry out just and effective works for the people of Kathmandu-9. “The Gorkhas don’t know how to lose. I am also a Gorkhali who does not know how to lose. Our victory is an end to corruption and establishment of good governance,” he said. Aryal garnered 35,093 votes to win from Kathmandu-9. His nearest rival was NC’s Naanumaiya Bastola who got 5,460 votes.
With this result, Aryal has emerged as the candidate with the largest margin of votes in the Kathmandu Valley. He won by a margin of 29,633 votes. Expressing gratitude to the election officers, employees and security personnel deputed to conduct the election, Aryal urged all to cooperate in the vote counting under the proportional representation system.
