Kathmandu. The Electricity Regulatory Commission (ERC) has scheduled to hear the disputed dedicated and trunk line tariff dispute on March 1.
The Commission is scheduled to conduct hearing on the case of Panchakanya Plastic Industries Pvt Ltd and Panchakanya Steel on the same day.
As per the provision, the initial hearing on the disputed tariff will be held in the commission and if the commission is not satisfied with the decision, it can go to court. Some industrialists had gone to the commission saying that they were not satisfied with the tariff fixed by the Nepal Electricity Authority.
The Commission has been continuously hearing on the issue of tariffs. The Commission has been taking necessary decision on the basis of existing rules, laws and past precedents. According to the notice of the commission, Panchakanya Plastics and Panchakanya Steel had applied to the commission for decision citing that they were not satisfied with the tariff fixed by the NEA.
In the application, the NEA has demanded to revoke the unfair decision of paying the outstanding electricity bills to the consumers who have taken electricity supply from dedicated feeder and trunk line and provide compensation.
The EC has asked the applicant’s lawyers and three officials of the Department of Law on behalf of the NRA to be present for the hearing. The Energy Commission, which is the regulatory body of Nepal’s energy sector, has been settling disputes in this sector. If the decision of the commission is not satisfied, the applicant will be able to go to court.
