Taplejung. After two days of rain, the hills and hills of the district have started looking white like silver as the weather has been clear.

The Tijure-Milke-Jalajle area of Maiwakhola rural municipality has been covered with snow since early morning. Kanchenjunga, the third highest mountain in the world, along with Kumbhakarna, Pathibhara and Manavara areas have also become as white as silver. The number of domestic tourists going for snow sports has also increased with the opening of season.

Heavy snowfall has occurred in the high mountainous areas of Taplejung since Friday evening. Various mountainous areas of the district have turned white due to snowfall following the rainfall. Ghunsa, Falep of Faktanglung rural municipality-6, Lelep and Olangchungola areas of ward no. 7 have received heavy snowfall. Similarly, Tokpegola and Maiwakhola areas of Mikwakhola rural municipality-5, the upper belt of Aathrai Triveni rural municipality, Milke-Jaljale area and Timbung pond area of Sidingwa rural municipality have also received heavy snowfall.

The famous pilgrimage site Pathivara area has also received snowfall. Rajendra Mahat, an employee of Pathivara Area Development Committee, said that snowfall has accumulated from Pathivara Dham to Guranse hill via Fedi Bazaar. Along with the snowfall, cold has also increased in the mountainous settlements of the district. Cold has increased especially in settlements like Olangchungola, Yangma, Fale and Ghunsa, said local Phuti Sherpa.
