. KATHMANDU: The Office of Labour and Employment has frozen the accounts of two industries and establishments that have violated the labour laws.
The Office has frozen the accounts of 175 industries in course of monitoring. According to Rudra Narayan Sah, chief of the office, 20 children working in various hotels and factories have been rescued and handed over to their guardians.
In the first eight months of the current fiscal year, the government has slapped a fine of Rs 225,000 and a compensation of Rs 22,000 to the employers and establishments employing minors as labourers.
He further said that most of the small scale industries have not provided appointment letters, minimum wages, social security and occupational security.
According to the office, it has settled 29 out of 45 complaints related to labor in the first eight months. Among them, 268 establishments including hotels and small industries are listed.
