Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Akshaya Tritiya festival is celebrated today on the occasion of Baisakh Shukla Tritiya (the third day of the month of Baisakh Shukla Tritiya).
According to the classical statute, one wakes up early in the morning, plasters the house, takes a bath, prepares the puja items and makes a resolution. Lord Vishnu is worshipped with sixteen items in the Ashtadala by placing a copper plate with Ashtadal written on the Kalash. There is a Vedic tradition of worshipping the priest and placing pure water in copper or earthen pots and mixing cinnamon, cloves, sukumel, cardamom, honey, sugar, sugar and sugar candy and donating pots and barley sattu.
Various Puranas have mentioned that the holy deeds like bathing, charity, meditation, chanting and other virtuous deeds performed on this day are never destroyed. Since barley flour and servat are like nectar in the summer of Baisakh, it is a tradition since the Vedic period to donate and eat oneself.
Prof Toyaraj Nepal of Valmiki Vidyapeeth’s Department of Religious Science said that both things help to protect the body from the heat and it also gives strength. It also helps to increase immunity in the body.
“On the day of Baisakh Shukla Tritiya, one gets many fruits even if one donates a little, and this day is called Akshaya Tritiya.
The pot donated on this day is also called Dharmaghatadi Daan. Today, it is customary to donate umbrellas, sticks and cloth shoes to the elderly and also donate cows, land, grain and gold to the virtuous Brahmins. Such donations are also made to the helpless and indigent classes.
It is believed that on this day, Lord Mahadev and Parvati, the daughter of the Himalayas, were married. Therefore, it is also believed that there is no need to look at the auspicious time for marriage today. There is a scriptural saying that the beginning of the Tretayug is also from this day. This date is mentioned in the scriptures as Akshaya Tritiya, as the auspicious work done on this day yields the fruits that never perish.
On this occasion, the temples dedicated to Lord Shiva across the country including the Pashupatinath Temple are crowded with devotees. The devotees who have gathered at the Shiva temple celebrate the Akshaya Tritiya festival by worshiping, worshiping and paying homage.
