Kathmandu. An agreement regarding assistance under the second phase of the Ring Road expansion project has been signed.
Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport and Urban Development Sunil Lamsal and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Zhang Maoming signed the MoU.
As per the agreement, an 8.2-km road and bridge will be constructed from Kalanki to Basundhara in the second phase of the Ring Road expansion. The Chinese government will provide a grant of around Rs 11 billion for the project.
The first phase of the road widening from Koteshwor-Kalanki has been completed since 2019.
After signing the agreement, Minister Lamsal pledged to resolve any problems surfaced in course of project implementation within a day. Stating north-south road construction was in the priority of the government, he expected more investment from Chinese government in Nepal’s infrastructure development.
Similarly, Chinese Ambassador Maoming said that many Chinese investors were willing to invest in Nepal provided conducive environment is created for the investment.
