Second edition of Human Resources Conference for Industrial Manpower Strengthening

Kathmandu. The second edition of Nepal Human Resource Conference is going to be held at Biratchowk on May 8 and 10. The main objective of the conference is to create competent human resources for industrial development by addressing the growing human resource challenges in Nepal.

Nepal’s industrial sector is currently affected by problems such as lack of skilled manpower, high rate of foreign migration, skill imbalance, lack of employee stability, rapid development of technology, coordination between employers and training providers. Nanda Kishor Rathi, president of the Chamber of Industries Morang, said that the conference aims to redefine human resources on the basis of productivity and sustainable industrial development on the basis of strategic basis.

According to Rathi, the conference will try to directly link human resource management with quality and productivity. In addition, it will promote the exchange of innovative practices, improve employee sustainability, strengthen apprenticeship and certification systems, promote digital HR systems, and expand collaboration between employers and training providers.

The first and second day of the conference will be divided into 9 sessions with active participation of speakers and panelists with national and international experience and in these sessions topics will be presented on the practices adopted by multinational companies in human resource management, impact of technological change on human workforce, use of digital HR system, measures of employee stability and prevailing acts and laws. He said that the role of industry in developing skilled manpower in the industrial sector, the adoption of international standards and the contribution of human resources in the value addition chain will be discussed.

The conference is expected to be attended by more than 150 participants including industrialists, managers, administrators, HR, training institutes, policy analysts, students and representatives from various industry establishments. According to the organization, the conference will prepare a strategic roadmap related to human resources, identify measures for employee sustainability, develop an apprenticeship model, and expand practical knowledge on digital systems.

According to the Morang, the first edition of the conference held in 2024 had established human resources as the major achievements of industrial transformation and this year’s second edition will further consolidate those achievements.
