Bardia. Highlife Agro and Food Industries Limited has distributed paddy seeds to Geruwa Rural Municipality-6 in Bardiya district with the slogan “Farmer’s Hand, High Life Support”.
A total of 61 local farmers participated in the program. During the process of distributing seeds, the farmers presented various agricultural problems and queries to the representatives of Highlife.
The farmers complained that they were not getting quality fertilizers and seeds, the use of normal seeds would lead to the collapse of the plants and they did not get proper market price.
On the occasion, Basudev Bhusal, proprietor of High Life, addressed the queries of farmers and urged them to cultivate paddy in Makawanpur. “Cultivate paddy in Makawanpur without any doubt, the company will take the responsibility of purchasing it,” he said, assuring the farmers of fair price and market for their produce.
Pankaj Gyawali, Managing Director of High Life Agro and Food Industries Limited expressed his determination to uplift the farmers and solve their problems. He said, “Today, Highlife has been able to produce high quality flattened rice due to the hard work of the farmers and the quality rice provided by them.” This is the reason why we have been able to become a high value brand by exporting all over Nepal and even to developed countries. “
“In our eyes, farmers are not just suppliers, they are our real partners. Therefore, it is our social responsibility to serve the farmers. “
The company plans to deploy agrotechnical technicians in the area from this year to provide training on soil testing, right seeding method and modern technology. The local farmers are very excited after getting the technical support and market guarantee along with the distribution of seeds.
This initiative is expected to bring a meaningful change in the agriculture sector by taking the relationship between the private sector and farmers to a new height.
