Kathmandu. The brand ‘Nova’, a subsidiary of Fishtail Dairy Pvt. Ltd., has reported quality issues in its limited batch of ice cream.

According to the company, the 1000 ml pack of Nova Chocolate Ice Cream, batch number ‘CO2′ and product with production date ’19 Shrawan 2082’ have food quality issues.

According to the company, the process of recalling the products from the market has been initiated after a test conducted by the Department of Food Technology and Quality Control found problems in the limited batch.

Fishtail Dairy said ice cream is a very sensitive product to temperature and can lead to bacterial growth if cold chains are not maintained in the production, transportation, storage and sales process. The company has said that it is aware of the scientific fact that refreezing melted ice cream can stop the growth of bacteria, but it does not destroy it completely.

Currently, the company has strictly implemented internal quality test, production process review and cold chain monitoring. “Except for the COT2 batch, there are no quality issues with Nova’s other products,” it said.

Fishtail Dairy has urged consumers to check the production date and period of consumption before using the product. The company has requested retailers and distribution partners to maintain proper cold chain and safe storage of temperature-sensitive products.

Claiming that the Nova brand has been in operation for 17 years and has been providing quality and safe milk products, the company has been regularly paying taxes to the government, providing direct and indirect employment to hundreds of Nepalis and exporting its products to foreign countries.
