How much budget has been allocated for which project?

Kathmandu. The government has presented a budget of Rs 2.124 trillion for the coming fiscal year. Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle presented the budget at the joint session of the federal parliament on Friday, said that out of the total allocation, Rs 1,270.58 billion or 59.8 per cent has been allocated for recurrent expenditure.

A total of Rs 431.10 billion has been allocated for capital expenditure and Rs 422.64 billion for financial management. The following projects have been allocated in the budget for the coming fiscal year.

Rs 37.46 billion has been allocated for East-West Highway, Rs 17.64 billion for Tarai-Madhes Rapid Highway, Rs 4.65 billion for Postal Highway, Rs 1 billion for Karnali Highway, Rs 2.16 billion for Pushpalal Mid-Hill Highway, Rs 1.46 billion for Madan Bhandari Highway, Rs 9.87 billion for National Highway, Strategic Road Bridge and Local Road Bridge. The budget statement has allocated Rs 6.55 billion for the Prithvi Highway.

Similarly, Rs 6.25 billion has been allocated for Koshi corridor, Rs 1.35 billion for upgradation of Galchhi-Syafrubesi-Rasuwagadhi road section, Rs 2.46 billion for road safety, Rs 28.52 billion for the nationwide maintenance of roads, Rs 3.17 billion for removing landslide obstructions on highways, Rs 1.83 billion for land development and continuation of infrastructure construction for the construction of identified cities. A total of Rs 4.19 billion has been allocated for greenery in major cities of the country and Rs 5.14 billion for the construction of suspension bridges.

Rs 286.48 billion has been allocated for the development of roads and urban infrastructure, Rs 2.50 billion for the completion of incomplete drinking water projects in the Tarai-Madhes, Rs 7.26 billion for expansion of drinking water pipe network in Kathmandu, Rs 2.34 billion for drinking water and sewage treatment in major cities and Rs 3.46 billion for construction of wastewater treatment plant in Kathmandu. Rs 37.17 billion has been allocated for drinking water and sanitation, Rs 70 billion for construction of transmission lines and substations, Rs 85.54 billion for power generation, transmission and distribution lines, Rs 5.63 billion for Rajapur Irrigation÷Bheri-Babai Diversion Project, Rs 2.55 billion for Sikta Irrigation Project and Rs 2.98 billion for Sunkoshi-Marin Diversion Project. A total of Rs 530 million has been allocated for expansion of irrigation facility in Madhes and Rs 5.13 billion has been allocated for Mahakali Irrigation÷Rani-Jamara-Kulariya Project.

Similarly, Rs 1.21 billion has been allocated for Greater Dang Valley Irrigation Project and Praganna-Badkapath Irrigation Project, Rs 440 million for maintenance and rehabilitation of irrigation system, Rs 1.83 billion for underground irrigation facility in Tarai-Madhes, Rs 800 million for reliable irrigation facility in Tars and Rs 330 million for public welfare advertisements. Similarly, Rs 5.93 billion has been allocated for information and communication sector, Rs 4.03 billion for sports sector, Rs 1 billion for school infrastructure mapping, Rs 8.60 billion for student scholarship, Rs 218.30 billion for education sector and Rs 101.95 billion for health sector

Similarly, Rs 13.15 billion has been allocated for the social security programme, Rs 5.90 billion for the operation and infrastructure development of basic hospital, Rs 320 million for the purchase of machine at BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital, Rs 3 billion for the nutrition assistance of Dalit children, Rs 120 billion for social security and Rs 310 million for the infrastructure and management of child reform homes. Rs 2.27 billion has been allocated for women, children, gender and sexual minority, Rs 32.46 billion has been allocated for the purchase of chemical fertilizers, Rs 2.07 billion has been allocated for the National Agriculture Modernization Programme, Rs 360 million has been allocated for promotion of organic manure and green manure, Rs 2.19 billion has been provided for the premium subsidy for agriculture insurance and Rs 240 million has been allocated for the control of pesticides and other diseases. Rs 46.92 billion has been allocated for the development of agriculture and livestock.

A budget of Rs 1 billion has been allocated for the conservation of water sources and pond construction in the Chure and Tarai-Madhes region, Rs 12.31 billion for environment and climate development, Rs 830 million for the Greater Lumbini Development Programme, Rs 1.53 billion for the upgradation of Tribhuvan International Airport, Rs 7.34 billion for the culture and tourism sector and Rs 2.93 billion for the civil aviation sector. Rs 3.63 billion has been allocated for labour and employment, Rs 220 million for converting electric or biobriquette-based boilers, Rs 650 million for industrial infrastructure development, Rs 500 million for easy access to industrial sector, Rs 1.18 billion for production-based incentive programme, and Rs 8.31 billion for industry, commerce and supply sector. Rs 4 billion has been allocated for science, technology and innovation, Rs 500 million for Nepal Enterprise Facility and Rs 2 billion for upgrading the residence of Nepal Army personnel.
