Pulses worth Rs 8 billion imported from Birgunj border point, lentils worth Rs 3.25 billion

Persa. Pulses worth Rs 7.97 billion were imported through Birgunj border point in the first 10 months of the current fiscal year. Nepal has imported seven different types of pulses from Nepal.

Imports from this border point decreased by 22 percent on value basis compared to the same period of the last fiscal year. Pulses worth Rs 10.21 billion were imported from Nepal in the first 10 months of the last fiscal year.

Udaya Singh Bista, information officer at the Birgunj Customs Office, said that the import of pulses has decreased by 22 percent in terms of value in the first 10 months of the current fiscal year. Lentil worth Rs 3.20 billion was imported in the first 10 months of the last fiscal year, compared to Rs 4.5 billion in the last fiscal year.

Similarly, in the first 10 months of the current fiscal year, imports worth Rs 2.04 billion have been imported. In the same period last year, Nepal imported beans worth Rs 2.74 billion. Chickpea worth Rs 1.92 billion was imported in the first 10 months of the current fiscal year compared to Rs 2.17 billion in the same period of the last fiscal year.

Information Officer Bista said that other beans worth Rs 420 million were imported in the first 10 months of the current fiscal year compared to Rs 458.8 million in the same period of the last fiscal year.
