Nepalgunj Customs Office: 68 per cent revenue collection in 10 months

Banke. Nepalgunj Customs Office has collected 68 per cent more revenue than the target in the first 10 months of the current fiscal year.

Janardan Poudel, chief of the Nepalgunj Customs Office, said that the government has collected Rs 16.73 billion or 68.2 per cent of the target for the fiscal year 2082/83 against the annual target of Rs 24.54 billion. According to him, there is a challenge to collect 32 per cent of the revenue in the remaining two months to meet the target.

According to the monthly target of the Customs Office, no revenue has been collected in any month so far. However, revenue collection has increased in the last two months, March and April. Only 74, 69, 87, 72, 83, 83 and 88 per cent of the target has been collected in the months of July, August, September, October, November, December and January of the current fiscal year. In the last fiscal year 2081/82, Nepalgunj customs had collected 74.64 percent of the target, while in the previous fiscal year 2080/81, it was 63.64 percent of the target. According to Poudel, 35 per cent revenue has been collected.

According to Poudel, although it was expected that customs revenue would increase with the increase in import and export after the operation of integrated check post at Jamunaha border point along the Nepal-India border, the target has not been achieved for the past few years. Nepalgunj customs collected Rs 1.35 billion or 74.14 per cent of the target of Rs 1.86 billion in mid-July and Rs 1.35 billion against the target of Rs 1.93 billion in August.

Similarly, 87.83 per cent or Rs 1.74 billion out of the target of Rs 1.98 billion in October, 72.30 per cent or Rs 1.53 billion against the target of Rs 2.12 billion in October, or Rs 1.53 billion in November, 83.45 per cent or Rs 1.63 billion in December. Out of the target of Rs 345,21,000, Rs 1.69 billion has been collected.

Similarly, Rs 1.70 billion or Rs 2.14 billion against the target of Rs 1.93 billion in February, 88.32 percent of the target of Rs 1.93 billion in February, Rs 1.93 billion or Rs 2.14 billion against the target of Rs 2.17 billion in March. 25.54 million and Rs 2.15 billion in April, out of the target of Rs 85,000. Chief Poudel said that 38 percent or Rs 1.84 billion has been collected.

According to the statistics of the Nepalgunj Customs Office, the revenue collected in the fiscal year 2081/82 was 73.67 per cent of the target, 66.62 per cent of the target in August, 66.91 per cent in September, 76.44 per cent in October, 76.27 per cent in November, 71.15 per cent in December, 75.13 per cent in January, 73.68 per cent in February, 82.54 per cent in March and 77.72 per cent in April.
