Former Home Minister and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Sudhan Gurung has revealed that he resigned from his ministerial post to facilitate a probe into the investigation into his assets. Addressing the first district convention of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Gorkha here today, lawmaker Gurung said that he was fully responsible for answering the questions raised while holding the public office.
Addressing the session, he said, “I have given my statement to the probe committee that I should face the questions raised after working in public office.” Some of the questions were very strong during the statement, to which I have answered them easily and clearly. ’

Referring to an interesting incident that happened during the statement, Gurung joked in the program, “The committee asked me, ‘Where did you get so many properties from?’ I also casually asked the probe committee that “let’s investigate your property too.” Stating that the probe committee’s report has already reached the Prime Minister’s Office, he said he was hopeful that he would get a complete clean chit.
‘Did not come to take pictures for 2 months as Home Minister’
Hinting at the possibility that he would be proved innocent and the government would again hand over the responsibility of the Home Ministry, Gurung made a different request. “If the government clears me from the committee and makes me the home minister again, no one should come to the ministry for the first two months to congratulate me and take pictures,” he said. He explained that the request was made to give priority to the work.
Suggestion to the party leadership: ‘The district leader should stay in the district’
Lawmaker Gurung also put forth a clear view on the organizational building of the RSP and the working style of the upcoming leadership. He argued that the new district president should not be capital-centric.
“The next president should stay in the district and carry out the party’s activities,” said Gurung, adding, “If he becomes the district president from the capital, he will reach out to the people only during the election, which will not benefit the party.” ’
Recalling that he received unprecedented support from the general public during his tenure as the Home Minister, he thanked all the voters of Gorkha district who made him victorious in the election.
