Kathmandu. The Skill Festival 2083 is being organized by the Chamber of Industries Morang, with the financial support of the Swiss government, technical assistance of Insure÷Helvetas Nepal and the Koshi Province Ministry of Social Development with the objective of highlighting the various aspects of skill development as well as the skills gap between the human resources available in the market.

The festival will be held from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Secretariat of the Chamber of Industries Morang in Biratnagar on June 14 and will include inter-school skills competition, live training, career counseling activities and prizes will be given to the winners of the final round of skills competition at 4:30 pm on the same day.

According to Nanda Kishor Rathi, president of Industry Association Morang, the festival will further strengthen the coordination and cooperation among training providers, industry establishments, government bodies and trainees to create a message about the production of skilled human resources as per the need, guarantee of employment opportunities and employment opportunities in the country.

“The festival will help create awareness about the importance of technical education and apprenticeship programmes and maintain a balance between demand and supply of skilled manpower,” Rathi said.

Deepak Agrawal, executive committee member of the organization and coordinator of Human Resource Development Committee, said that there will be a skill competition in information technology, hotel management and automobiles, live training on pottery, plumbing, industrial automation, CCTV, 3D printing, green skills, career counseling and career counseling sessions for students and youths.

Agrawal said that information technology, hotel management, automobile engineering students, representatives of industries and institutions of technical schools, information technology, hospitality sector will participate in the festival.

The organization expects that the Skills Festival 2083 will contribute significantly towards making the technical and vocational education system industry-friendly and practical by institutionalizing vocational skill development, career guidance and collaboration with industry.
