Kathmandu. The import of toothpicks is increasing significantly in Nepal.
Toothpick worth Rs 24.6 million has been imported till mid-June of the current fiscal year. According to the Department of Customs, Nepal imported 67,545 kilograms of toothpicks till mid-June of the current fiscal year.
The government has collected Rs 9 million 68 thousand from the import of toothpicks.
According to the Department, the highest number of toothpicks have been imported from China till mid-June. A total of 66,843 kilograms of toothpicks worth Rs 24.55 million were imported from China. Out of this, 41,247 kilograms of tooth picks and 25,596 kilograms of wooden toothpicks were imported.
Likewise, 500 kilograms toothpick has been imported from India. Out of this, 25 kg of toothpicks and 425 kg wooden toothpicks were imported. India imports 1,13,000 toothpicks.
Similarly, 202 kilograms of wooden tooth picks were imported from Thailand. Its price is Rs 11,000.
