Kathmandu. According to the Department of Livestock Services, bird flu has spread in the Kathmandu Valley due to crows.
Director General of the Department, Dr Umesh Dahal, said that the bird flu has been seen in crows and has spread throughout the Kathmandu Valley. “Bird flu seen in poultry can be controlled. But the crows detected by bird flu cannot be controlled”, he said, adding, “Crows have spread the infection to many places including the Central Zoo”. ”
Director General Dr Dahal said that infected crows fly from one place to another. According to him, the infection in crows lasts for 21 days, so many birds can transmit the disease. “When a crow dies, we don’t know where it died. And the same dead crow transmits bird flu. Crow droppings also transmit a lot of bird flu,” he said.
Currently, bird flu has been detected in all three districts of Kathmandu Valley. According to him, bird flu has been detected in 100 places of 11 districts across the country.
Director General Dahal has already controlled bird flu in all places except Kirtipur and Kageshwori Manahara in the Kathmandu Valley. Bird flu is an infectious disease with a high mortality rate in birds. He said special precaution has been urged after bird flu was detected in crows in the Kathmandu Valley.
The Department has set up a Bird Flu disease control room under the leadership of Deputy Director General of the Department and has been launching bird flu disease control campaign in coordination with the federal, provincial and local levels in the areas where the disease is found.
