Lalitpur Metropolitan City approves Rs 7.48 billion budget 

. The Lalitpur Metropolitan City (LMC) has endorsed a budget of Rs 7.48 billion for the fiscal year 2083÷84 presented by the municipal assembly on June 26, 2083. The municipal assembly on July 30, 2083 passed the budget after extensive discussion and deliberations.

Deputy Mayor Manjali Shakya Bajracharya presented the budget in the ninth municipal assembly of the metropolis.TAG_OPEN_div_18 Municipality mayor Chiribabu Maharjan said the budget for the fiscal year 2083÷84 has given priority to the promotion of greenery, environment and heritage conservation as well as education and health.

TAG_OPEN_div_16 He said, “Among them, the ambulance with doctors starting from July 1 is a new program in the homes of the sick city residents.” He said that this is a new and effective programme to be launched by prioritizing the health sector. According to this program, an ambulance with a doctor goes to the house for the treatment of the sick city residents.

Mayor Maharjan said that many sectors have been affected due to environmental degradation and the management of greenery has been prioritized.TAG_OPEN_div_14 The Lalitpur Metropolitan City (LMC) has implemented the provision of vaccination for pneumonia to the senior citizens, screening for cancer in the uterus and treatment if they have been diagnosed.

Lalitpur Metropolitan City has allocated 56.6 per cent of the total budget for the fiscal year 2083÷84 towards capital expenditure and 43.4 per cent for current expenditure.TAG_OPEN_div_10 On the occasion, Chief Administrative Officer Rekha Das Shrestha said good governance, transparency and service delivery were the priority areas of the budget.
