Kathmandu. Former Deputy Prime Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, former Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand and former Home Secretary Tek Narayan Pandey have been convicted in the fake Bhutanese refugee case.
A single bench of Kathmandu District Court Judge Tej Bahadur Khadka convicted them of forgery, organized crime and treason.
The court also convicted Khand Rayamajhi, Pandey, Keshav Prasad Dulal, Sanu Bhandari, Sagar Rai, Sandesh Sharma and Dr. The court has convicted Indrajit Rai, Govinda Chaudhary and Angatawa Sherpa of cheating and organized crime.
Keshav Prasad Dulal, Sanu Bhandari, Sagar Rai, Sandesh Sharma, Dr. Indrajit Rai, Govinda Kumar Chaudhary alias Bikram, Angtawa Sherpa, Tek Narayan Pandey and Top Bahadur Rayamajhi have been found guilty of committed committed crimes against the state through organized fraud.
The case was filed against Khand, Teknath Rijal, Narendra KC, Shumsher Miya, Hari Bhakta Maharjan and Niranjan Kumar Kharel.
Sandip Rayamajhi, Keshab Tuladhar, Tanka Kumar Gurung, Ram Sharan KC, Ashish Budhathoki, Laxmi Maharjan and Pratik Thapa have been acquitted by the constitutional bench.
The District Attorney’s Office, Kathmandu had filed a case against 30 people in 2080 BS for sending Nepalis as fake Bhutanese refugees to the United States.
