Kathmandu. Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Ganesh Nepali.

“It is a very painful incident that has shaken the society, state and collective consciousness,” he said. Issuing a press release today, Thapa urged all not to make the incident a topic of political debate or blame. According to him, it is necessary for all to adopt sensitivity as it is related to the life of a citizen, the unbearable pain of a family and human sensitivity.

He has appealed to all to support the dependent family of Ganesh Nepali and to help them from their respective places to alleviate their suffering.

Thapa stressed the need of making such incidents a matter of collective introspection linked to the governance of the state rather than debating who is to blame for the past and present. He pointed out the need to seek honest answers to the questions as to why a youth reaches such a state of despair, why he has to set his own body on fire to express his pain, why the services and mechanisms of the state are not able to assure all the citizens, and where are the weaknesses as a society, family, state and citizens?

Thapa believed that creating an environment in which no citizen would have to choose such painful path in the future would be the true tribute to Ganesh Nepali.

On the occasion, Thapa extended heartfelt tribute to the departed Ganesh Nepali and extended deep condolences to the bereaved family. He wished the family the strength to bear this unbearable pain.
