Kathmandu. Former chairman of Nepal Telecommunication Authority Bhupendra Bhandari has been arrested.
The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police arrested him from Dhapakhel of Lalitpur on Thursday.
The CIB has confirmed the arrest in connection with the Smart Telecom case.
Bhandari has been accused of dishonestly trying to keep Smart Telecom’s property out of the government’s ownership.
Smart Telecom received permission from the Telecommunications Authority to operate basic telephone service in Baisakh 2070.
