Institutional reforms begin in Nepal Airlines Corporation

. With the new leadership of Nepal Airlines Corporation, the process of institutional reform has gained momentum.

Improvement in the revenue, seat utilization and operation management of the corporation has been seen with the emphasis on managerial reforms, accountability in performance and business approach.

A seven-TAG_OPEN_div_22 member board of directors was formed on May 19 with five independent directors and two representatives from the ministry who were selected through open competition. The Cabinet decision on July 30 had appointed Maheshwor Bhakta Shrestha as the general manager and executive chairman of the company.

After assuming the responsibility of the Executive Chairman, Shrestha had announced a target to make the corporation self-reliant within three years.TAG_OPEN_div_20

In the first 15 days of assuming the office, he said that three meetings of the Board of Directors and various discussions have been held to prepare the action plan, priorities and strategy for institutional reform.TAG_OPEN_div_19

According to the corporation, the income of the corporation has increased by 32 percent in the month of June this year compared to the last fiscal year.TAG_OPEN_div_17 According to the NOC, the utilization of seats was around 75 percent in June last year and it has been able to increase to 85.4 percent in June this year.

The corporation has prioritized income growth, control of unnecessary expenditure and expansion of services through effective mobilization of available resources, means and human resources. Preparations have been made to expand the service network, increase operational efficiency and further strengthen financial discipline in the coming days.
