Kathmandu. Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Ranju Darshana has commented on the police detention of former Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana.
} On Monday, she said on her Facebook account that even though one can be arrested if found guilty, the legal process and the basis of evidence are important in making an arrest.
“There is a provision in the law that if the crime is found, one can be arrested. But even when arrested, the tone and rhythm should match,” she wrote, “Even if the crime is invisible, the law asks for evidence. Allegations alone are not enough, but the basis and evidence are also needed to prove the crime.” ’
She said that the main essence of the rule of law is to follow the rules, procedures and evidence while exercising rights. “This is what the rule of law is all about. Rights can be exercised, but not without law and evidence,” she said.TAG_OPEN_div_17
