Kathmandu. Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) has started issuing codes for the listing of shares.
For a long time, there has been a dispute between the code given by NEPSE and the IGIN (International Standard Identification Number) given by CDSC.
A complaint was also lodged with the CIAA in this regard last May. However, NEPSE’s trend remains the same. Nepse has done the same thing last time as well.
In the third week of June, NEPSE has provided 2 stock symbols and reference codes to Everest Color Limited. NEPSE has allotted EPL to the general public and promoter shares as ECLP.
Similarly, the reference code has 677 for the general public and 678 for the founder.
On the other hand, NEPSE has given stock symbol and reference code to 2 companies on July 21. These companies have been given only symbols and codes to the general public. The founder didn’t give it.
Nepse has assigned SAPIL symbol code 679 to Sarvottam Paints. Similarly, Mount Everest Power Development Company has been given the code 681 with the MEPDL symbol.
NEPSE has given symbols and codes in view of the proximity of the company’s representatives. None of the NEPSE officials want to speak on this issue.
On the condition of anonymity, a NEPSE official replied that it might have been given to the concerned officer.
However, other NEPSE officials also say that all listed companies should be treated the same.
When a company issues an IPO, it is issued in two parts, the promoter and the general public. The shares of the founders of real sector and hydropower companies are locked for 3 years.
For a long time, there has been a dispute over the two IGN numbers and the code. Some parties have alleged that the founding shareholders sold the locked shares when they had the same code and iGene. Some have been arguing that if the shareholders are not honest, it will not matter how many IGs and codes are given.
Now, the different codes given by NEPSE have also raised the question of how the founders of these companies are trying to facilitate.
