Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The 17th Europe Regional Conference of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) 2026 has kicked off at the Radisson Blu-Royal Hotel in Dublin, the capital of Ireland from today. The main theme of the conference is ‘Sankalpa’ while its message is ‘unity in identity, initiation in investment and commitment to prosperity’.

With the expansion of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), Europe regional meetings and conferences have been emerging as an important forum for coordination, common policy-making, organizational strengthening and expansion of relations with Nepal.

This year, representatives of International Coordination Council and National Coordination Council of NRNA, entrepreneurs, professionals, experts, women and youth leaders, second generation NRNs and community representatives from different parts of the world including Europe are participating in the conference. So far, more than 200 participants from 35 countries have been confirmed, and the total participation in the conference is expected to reach around 250.

Deputy leader of the parliamentary party of the Rastriya Swatantra Party and member of the House of Representatives, honorable Ganesh Parajuli, is attending the conference as the chief guest. Also present in the meeting were Nepal’s Charge d’ Affaires to the UK Bipin Duwadi, Krishna Kumar Subedi, Under Secretary at the Labour Immigration and Diaspora Division under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Supriya Singha, Councillor of Dublin City Council, leaders of Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) and experts from different sectors.

There will be 10 major thematic sessions in the two-day conference. Non-resident Nepali citizenship and rights, investment in Nepal, safe immigration, labour and economic diplomacy, empowerment of women, participation of youths and second generation, transfer of knowledge, skills and technology, strengthening of National Coordination Council, inter-country issues and institutional restructuring of NRNA and building a new identity will be discussed in the conference.

This year’s conference has given priority to Non-Resident Nepali citizenship and rights, investment in Nepal and participation of women, youth and second generation. The women-centric discussions will focus on entrepreneurship, economic empowerment, safe immigration, health and legal access. Similarly, the session on youth and second generation will focus on leadership development, information technology, entrepreneurship, identity, language and culture and long-term relationship with Nepal.

The summit aims to prepare a common roadmap for the role of Nepalis living abroad around the world and their partnership in Nepal’s development for 2030 and beyond.

The organizers have taken the conference as an important opportunity to directly present the rights and concerns of the Non-Resident Nepalese (NRNs) to the government and political leadership, to further strengthen cooperation among the Nepali community in Europe and to expand economic, social and knowledge-based partnership between Nepal and the Nepali diaspora in Nepal.

The conference is expected to create an environment to connect the experience, knowledge, skills, capital and technology of the Nepali community around the world with the development of Nepal as well as to make the NRNs rights and their relations with Nepal more effective.
