Kathmandu. Indian Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Balendra Shah at the latter’s residence in Baluwatar on Monday.
The Army Chief paid a courtesy call on PM Shah at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar today, according to PM’s press and research expert Deepa Dahal. Indian Ambassador to Nepal Navin Srivastava was also present on the occasion.
Seth arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday on a four-day official visit at the invitation of Chief of Army Staff Ashok Raj Sigdel. His spouse Komal Seth is also in the five-member delegation.
President Ram Chandra Poudel conferred the honorary rank of General of the Nepal Army to General Seth on Monday.
He was conferred with the insignia of honorary general amidst a special ceremony at the President’s Office, Sheetal Niwas. Since 1950, Nepal and India have been conferring the insignia of the honorary General of the Army Staff of each other.
Similarly, Chief of Army Staff Ashok Raj Sigdel and Seth also held bilateral talks on Monday. During the meeting, matters of mutual interest and further strengthening the bilateral military relations between Nepal and India were discussed.
On the occasion, Chief of Army Staff Seth handed over military and medical equipment to the Nepal Army. Army Chief Seth also performed puja at the Pashupatinath Temple this morning.
The Nepal Army has stated that such visit by high-ranking military officers of the friendly countries would help further expand and deepen the military relations between the two countries. Army Chief Seth is scheduled to return home on Wednesday.
